A 39-year-old man who died after being found with serious head injuries in a Poynders Road flat has been named by the police. Thomas Carey was found with head injuries by the London Fire Brigade in the Oaklands Estate flat on Friday, September 4.
Officers were called to the flat at 8.35pm, and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been named as Thomas Carey, from Lambeth, and a murder investigation has been launched.
Police previously said they believed the incident was isolated and that there was no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public. No arrests have yet been made in connection.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Thomas’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
“We continue to appeal for information and urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual to contact police. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could prove vital to our investigation.”
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “The brigade was called to effect an entry to a property on Poynders Road, Lambeth.
“Upon gaining entry, firefighters discovered the body of a man in the property. Despite the efforts of firefighters and paramedics, he was declared dead at the scene.”
