One user said the glowing reviews are ‘100% accurate’
Tripadvisor has announced its full list of best restaurants in multiple categories and highlighted what it considers the best hidden gems, with one Indian restaurant in London topping the list.
Today (Tuesday, September 15), the site announced its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best restaurants based on reviews from millions of travellers. They had several categories, including ‘Date Nights’, ‘Fine Dining’, ‘Casual’, and more. One category is Hidden Gems.
Bonoo Indian Tapas in Hampstead ranked number 13 in the world and number 1 in London as the best ‘Hidden Gem’ restaurant. The restaurant first opened in 2016 and has grown into one of London’s best, even opening up another location in Muswell Hill.
The Indian restaurant combines authentic small plates with charming hospitality. We visited Bonoo back in 2022, when the hidden-gem aspect was clear, as it was then behind scaffolding. The warm hospitality for which it is highly rated proved accurate, as we found.
Whether it’s the cosy interiors with flowers on the wall or the delicious food from fried Okra to butter chicken, as well as a range of drinks and cocktails, all make for an exceptional dining experience.
One reviewer on TripAdvisor wrote: “Having never visited the restaurant before but solely going by their outstanding reviews, which i can now confirm are 100% accurate. The private room was beautifully decorated, upstairs is gorgeous too and the ambience was just perfect, exactly what I was after, it was pure class!
“The service was exceptional, Dimple was just fantastic, from the enquiry to visit, she was so helpful and reassuring, not to forget flexible! The food was jus [sic] delicious, every single dish was mastered to perfection, cooked well and sooo tasty.
“The only worry that we had, was being a tapas style restaurant the portions might be really small but this really wasnt the case there was plenty of food and we all left feeling stuffed. This place is the real defintion of a HIDDEN GEM [sic].”
