DJ Ag is no stranger to welcoming famous faces to his outdoor sets across London, and Monday was no different as he introduced another star in Pyaano House’s garden in Harrow Weald
Revellers couldn’t believe their eyes when a famous face appeared to perform “in someone’s garden” in Harrow on Monday (September 14). DJ Ag (real name, Ashley Gordon) is well known for putting on outdoor open-format DJ sets across the capital, which he broadcasts live on social media.
In the past few years he has been joined by a whole host of celebrities including Rita Ora, Will Smith, Jamelia in King’s Cross and Craig David in Brixton. His latest show, at Pyaano House in Harrow Weald saw him joined by Jay Sean – and fans clearly couldn’t get enough.
Jay, born Kamaljit Singh Jhooti in 1981, is a London-born singer and songwriter who came out of the Asian Underground scene to score four UK top 10 singles and a UK top 10 album.
Davina Pindoria, who was present at the time, shared footage to Instagram of Jay’s set, which saw him perform his new single, Down, as well as past hits, Make My Love Go, Ride It, and Do You Remember?
Given that he’s played at huge arenas like Madison Square Gardens and Wembley, it’s a bit surreal to watch Jay Sean performing in such a humble venue.
Writing in response to Davina’s video, one fan declared: “Big up DJ Ag Jay Sean. We need more of this! Iconic.”
A second person exclaimed: “Next level fomo [fear of missing out].”
While a third mused: “It’s kinda sad, he deserved better, he should have been touring the world, performing to hundreds of thousands.”
Asked by DJ Ag who he would like to see follow in his footsteps, meanwhile, Jay pondered: “Hmm, you know what, I’ve done a few songs with him and I don’t think he’s been with you yet… Sean Paul. That would be sick. He has hits for days.”
Earlier this year, Croydon’s Legacy Youth Zone welcomed DJ AG to see first-hand the wealth of talent emerging from the young rappers and producers who attend the youth club each week.
“The talent is amazing, but more importantly I love how respectful they are,” he told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) at the time. “A lot of that is missing in society today.”
DJ Ag continued: “They seem really eager to learn, and they want to be here. If I lived in Croydon or the surrounding areas, I would be sending my kids here.
“I don’t know what’s in the water in Croydon, but it’s obviously good.”
