No arrests have yet been made
A churchyard has been taped off by police after a reported rape in the early hours of Thursday, September 17. Officers were investigating the scene at the back of St Matthew’s Church Yard in Brixton after a woman in her 40s reported that she was raped at around 0.55am today.
The scene was at the back of Brixton church and was taped off by police for most of Thursday as investigations took place. The victim/survivor is being supported by specialist officers, but police say that no arrests have yet been made.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating after a woman in her 40’s reported that she had been raped in St Matthew’s Churchyard, Brixton Hill, Brixton at around 00:55am on Thursday, September 17.
“A number of enquiries are ongoing and the victim/survivor is being supported by specialist officers. No arrests have been made at this stage.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101, quoting CAD 265/17SEP. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or by submitting an online form.”
