Following an incredible academic year, the school is inviting families to discover its excellent facilities and provision at its upcoming open evening
An Ealing high school is celebrating another exceptional year of academic achievement and community milestones.
The past year has seen Featherstone High School receive incredible exam results, resulting in many of its students progressing to top universities and exciting apprenticeship opportunities.
Alongside this, students have been benefitting from cutting edge facilities, including a new 3G football pitch.
Driven by a mission to ensure high standards of achievement alongside a happy, fulfilling school experience, Featherstone consistently places among the top performers nationwide for student progress.
The sixth form delivered a second consecutive year of record-breaking results, exceeding national averages across virtually every subject category.
Outstanding education and facilities
Ofsted have called the quality of education at Featherstone High School “outstanding”, and that “pupils receive an excellent education.”
Inspectors also commended the school’s commitment to personal growth, recognising that staff “have made the building of pupils’ cultural experience a priority.”
To further support both curriculum sports and extracurricular activity, the school has launched an impressive new 3G football pitch. The facility has already drawn high praise, with ENG Sports describing it as “the best quality pitch in West London.“
While designed primarily to benefit students, the new astro turf is also available for external community bookings online.
Academic excellence
In its latest A-level results, Featherstone recorded an average grade of B, with 36% of all grades awarded at A*-A and 65% achieving A*-B.
Vocational pathways produced equally stellar outcomes, with Level 3 BTEC students earning an average grade of Distinction*. A impressive 79% of BTEC grades reached Distinction*-Distinction, while 100% achieved Distinction*-Merit.
These strong results have translated directly into prestigious pathways for graduating students. This year, nine students successfully secured places to study medicine and veterinary science, including one student heading to the University of Cambridge.
Mohammad, who will study medicine at Cambridge, said: “I am honestly astonished by the amount of help teachers have given me. Featherstone High School is an amazing school and I could not have chosen better!”
Similarly, Hashir, who secured a place on a medicine degree at King’s College London, said: “I am over the moon with my results! I am very grateful to all my teachers for all the support along the way.”
Other successes include Abbas, who secured a place at UCL to study politics and international relations, and Kavnoor, who is progressing to Brunel University for accounting and business management.
GCSE results at the school were also exceptionally strong, showing a clear increase on the previous year’s performance and continuing the cycle of success.
Headteacher Mr Walters said: “We are so proud to be one of the top-achieving high schools in Ealing. We are delighted that so many of our students have achieved their dreams and ambitions in achieving their grades.”
Degree apprenticeships
Alongside traditional degree routes, students have achieved remarkable success in securing competitive degree apprenticeships at major international firms.
Areena is taking on a role as a business analyst apprentice at the London Stock Exchange.
Reflecting on her time at the school, she said: “I can’t begin to express my gratitude to every one of my teachers who has supported me throughout my entire journey, for their guidance through all my highs and lows. I will also forever be grateful to Featherstone because it has allowed me to meet some of the most important individuals in my life.”
Meanwhile, Ruby earned a place on a Level 7 solicitor degree apprenticeship at Broadfield International Law Firm.
She said: “This opportunity means a lot to me. It’s been a long journey and lots of time and effort going into the application process. I’m really grateful to everyone who supported me along the way.”
And students at Featherstone are succeeding in more ways than one.
Last week, Sukhmani Purewal was the recipient of the ‘Young Achiever Award’ by Southall Community Alliance for her outstanding work with young carers.
