Police are searching for the suspect
A school in Croydon went into lockdown earlier due to security fears.
This afternoon (Wednesday, September 30) saw a school on Selsdon Park Road shut down over reports someone had been seen with a blade.
Reports on social media claim the weapon was a machete, but this remains unverified.
Police arrived quickly, but the suspect – believed to be a teenager – had left and no one has been arrested.
There were no injuries. The school lockdown has since been lifted.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Around 17:08hrs, officers attended a college in Selsdon Park Road, Croydon, following reports that a person had been seen with a bladed weapon.
“Police attended, but, by the time they arrived, the suspect had left the scene.
“No arrests have been made, and officers are seeking to locate the suspect, who is believed to be a teenager.
“No injuries were reported, and the college was temporarily placed on lockdown while officers made enquiries. This has now been lifted.”
