Waitrose has announced the 18,000 sq ft will open in autumn
Waitrose has announced a new 18,000 sq ft store to open in North West London in autumn this year. The high end supermarket will take up residence at Cricklewood as the former Galtymore Ballroom site as part of a multi-million pound investment.
Waitrose Cricklewood is scheduled to open in autumn 2026 at 194-196 Cricklewood Broadway, London NW2 3BN. The store is just minutes away from Cricklewood train station and is tipped to be convenient shopping destination, with a dedicated basement car park for customers to use. Currently, the nearest Waitrose stores are located in Brent Cross shopping centre and a ‘Little Waitrose’ in West Hampstead.
Alun Jones, head of Waitrose physical estate, said: “Bridging the gap between our stores in Brent Cross and West Hampstead, Cricklewood is a brilliant location for Waitrose. Securing this iconic local building puts us at the centre of the high street near excellent transport links – the prime spot for our food-loving customers. We’re investing in new shops and as well as our existing estate as part of our commitment to our customers and the communities we operate in.”
Hannah Lewis-Moore, Waitrose’s regional manager, added: “We’re delighted to be opening in Cricklewood and look forward to introducing our fantastic products and renowned Partner-led service to the local community. As we prepare for launch, we’ll be recruiting new Partners to join us in-store and we’re excited to welcome them and our new customers. We’ll share more details of what’s to come soon.”
The news follows Waitrose’s announcement that it is launching into airport travel retail for the first time. Waitrose products will be stocked in four RELAY stores in Heathrow Terminal 2, reaching new customers in a high-traffic location.
The move forms part of Waitrose’s strategy to grow through additional channels alongside continued investment in its own shops and online business. Alongside three further shop openings – in Hale Barns, South Manchester, Chelmer Village, Essex and Ascot, Berkshire – 28 Waitrose shops will undergo refurbishments this year. The retailer is investing £1bn in a multi-year programme to provide the very best products, service and shops for customers nationwide.
