Residents and tourists will be able to save £3.50 and get a free 60-minute pass
Londoners can benefit from unlimited free one-hour cycles on Sundays this July with the return of a popular scheme. On each Sunday between July 5 and July 26, residents and visitors can get free Santander day passes, which usually cost £3.50.
The scheme was launched in 2024 to encourage more Londoners to use healthy and sustainable ways to travel around the city. Anyone wanting to take advantage of the scheme can download the Santander Cycles app and use Transport for London’s promo codes to get the free pass, then redeem it at one of 800 docking stations across London.
The pass will give you unlimited rides of up to 60 minutes within a 24-hour period. The discount codes for each Sunday in July are as follows:
- CYCLEJULY5 (July 5)
- CYCLEJULY12 (July 12)
- CYCLEJULY19 (July 19)
- CYCLEJULY26 (July 26)
As part of the campaign to promote cycling, TfL has listed 50 routes of up to 10 miles long across the city to sample. These range from park rides in Hampstead Heath and Primrose Hill to a cycleway loop between Clapham Common and Battersea Power Station.
There are also a host of routes in London’s outer boroughs. The capital now has more than 441km of strategic cycle routes, up from 90k in 2016, making the network nearly five times bigger.
TfL plans to invest a further £94.8m in London before March 2027 to further expand cycle routes.
Will Norman, the Mayor of London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, said: “I’m delighted that TfL Cycle Sundays is back, and this year it’s bigger and better than ever, so even more Londoners and visitors can enjoy exploring our great city by bike.
“Cycling is a fantastic way to get around London, especially now that we’ve grown our Cycleways network by nearly five times, helping people of all abilities to cycle safely across the capital. The Mayor and I encourage everyone – especially those new to cycling – to take up these free Sunday bike rides and to use our cycle routes to travel around our great city as we continue building a safer, greener, better London for all.”
