Chris Brown has pleaded guilty following a confrontation in Mayfair in 2023
Singer Chris Brown has pleaded guilty after a confrontation at a private members’ club in Mayfair. Brown pleaded guilty to a charge of affray after a confrontation at the Tape venue, a private members’ club in Hanover Square, on February 19, 2023.
Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court earlier this afternoon, but had been due to face a jury trial in October, having initially denied a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Abraham Diaw at a previous hearing in June last year.
He also denied having an offensive weapon – a bottle – in a public place, as well as a charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. These charges have now been discontinued, and he will be sentenced on October 26 for the affray charge.
He was charged along with his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, 40, who had also denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has now pleaded guilty to affray. He will be sentenced on the same date.
The singer arrived at court flanked by security guards, dressed in a tan suit, gold-rimmed sunglasses and a St Louis Cardinals baseball hat, where a small gathering of fans had assembled outside.
At previous hearings, Brown was ordered to pay a £5 million security fee as part of his bail conditions, which permitted him to embark on a world tour provided he surrendered his passport upon arriving in each country.
He was once again released on bail on Friday.
